Talent Spotlight – Montie & I (Acoustic)
Ministry of DJs is proud to introduce to the world Montel (guitar) and Perri (vocals) form Melbourne’s vibrant acoustic duo Montie & I.
Montie & I’s love and passion for music drives them to create stunning vocal and guitar arrangements, designed to capture the perfect atmosphere for every occasion.
We recently sat down with Montie & I to find out a little bit more about our talented Melbourne based Acoustic duo:
How long have you been musicians for/ how did it all start?
Montie & I have both been involved with live music and performance from a young age, which is why entering into the music industry was such a natural progression.
We started the duo/music collective after working together as music educators. It had been a long time dream of mine to get to perform and help celebrate the special moments in people’s lives. So, when I met Montie, and after experiencing just how well we worked together and how much fun we had jamming,
I just knew it was time to make the dream reality.
What do you love about performing at weddings?
It is simply an honour. To be asked to be part of, what is often considered, the biggest day in our couple’s lives is so heart-warming and means the world to us.
From the first inquiry to the big day, we really do get to know our couples. With that being said, it is such a personal joy for us to see their dream come true on the day and by that point, it truly feels like we are performing for our own family and friends! (What can we say – We love love!)
How do you prepare for each wedding you play at?
Our preparation includes ensuring that each set is tailored to perfection, providing our couples with sample sets and consulting with them to make sure all their favourite songs are intertwined throughout their special day.
In particular, we ask all our couples about their ‘special moment’ songs such as, the walk down the aisle or first dance. We then spend our time arranging, rehearsing, and refining the songs to ensure we hit every note on the day with confidence, precision and class.
What are your most popular songs played at weddings?
‘Can’t Help Falling in Love’ by Elvis Presley and ‘Perfect’ by Ed Sheeran are some popular choices among our couples and we do love how, no matter how many times we play them, they always bring out the warm, fuzzy feelings.
What really makes a playlist though, is when our couples add their musical flavours – we love playing the songs that mean the most to you and we can certainly accommodate special requests.
