Talent Spotlight – DJ Julian
With more than 10 years in the industry, DJ Julian knows how to light up a dancefloor and deliver a party to remember.
Holding a residency at Sydney’s popular nightspot ‘El Camino Cantina’ (The Rocks and Manly) DJ Julian has developed the skills and knowledge to get people moving to his extensive range of beats. His music collection covers all the top hits from all the top genres including Dance, R&B, Old School, Rock, Latin, Pop and many many more.
DJ Julian is widely booked to perform at weddings across Sydney and NSW, as well as showing off his DJ skills at many private Birthdays, graduations, Christmas parties and boat parties to name a few.
We recently sat down with Julian to find out a little bit more about our talented Sydney based DJ:
When did you start DJing and how did you develop this passion?
I started learning the art of djing at the age of 15. It became a passion when I was helping my cousin with his family business in events & entertainment. I was always passionate about music but working in events made me realise how important is to keep people dancing and singing on their special celebrations. I had the pleasure of playing in my first wedding when I was 20 and never looked back!
Nothing could’ve made me happier than seeing all the crowd jumping on the dance floor!!! ever since, I have performed in many events. My biggest gig was in Australia for a Halloween party hosted for 600 people. It was awesome!!!
What what is about music and/or sound that drew you to it?
Music is constantly evolving and new rhythms make it more interesting. Having performed in South America and Australia gave me a wider knowledge in music of different cultures.
Understanding the type of music that people want and being able to switch between different genres on each event is a skill I have developed along my career as Dj. Music is part of my life and sharing that feeling and vibes to everyone on the dance floor is what I always want to do on every event!
How do you prepare for each gig you play at?
I always play music for people and not for me. I make sure to have a conversation with each client prior the event. It gives me a broad picture of the event, the type of music they prefer, the timing and special requests. As every stage of the event needs to have specific music genres, I organise a customised playlist to adapt it to for the special occasion. Also, being willing to take song requests and follow recommendations is a great opportunity to make people happier.
What do you love about DJing at weddings?
We remember the greatest moments of our lives with a good song! This is a memory I can help creating in your weeding through playing the songs you love.
What a great feeling to think about your wedding day and say: ”it was fun, we danced all night long” I am fortunate enough to be able to make this happen.
What are your top 5 songs to get everyone moving on your dancefloor?
Choosing only 5 songs along all genres is tricky as every crowd has their preferences, but these songs get people to the dance floor!
