Real Weddings : Laura & Justin

Real Weddings

We had the absolute pleasure of playing at Laura and Justin’s wedding entertainment earlier on in the year and had so much fun we wanted to share the experience of one of the real weddings with you all.

We initially met Laura via a listing on partner site Wedshed, and from her initial contact and chat, we knew we were going to have a party to remember!

THE VENUE

A total of 75 guests were invited to share Laura & Justin’s special day at the wonderful Beta Events on a lively Friday night. This amazing venue in Sydney’s CBD is one of our favourite’s to play at and we can proudly say that we are listed as one of the venue’s exclusive preferred suppliers which is something we treasure. Jojo and the team from Beta do an amazing job to make everyone feel welcome and special, and people who have been to Beta will know just how spectacular the venue is from the moment you walk in.

THE BRIEF

The music brief we received was a good healthy mix of old and new, with plenty of funk, soul, and classics involved (the perfect mix for a wedding playlist!). Some artists that featured on the music brief and played on the night included James Brown, Daft Punk, Ed Sheeran, Nelly, Bag Raiders and Missy Elliot to name a few.

Laura & Justin opted for the DJ and Sax combo entertainment package, with DJ Andy Kay and Gaz on Sax the two performers chosen from our boutique Agency after matching their skillsets with the music brief provided.

THE DANCEFLOOR

As soon as speeches were done, we were ready to launch the dancefloor!

Before that something important had to be checked off…

Moments before the couple stepped on the dance floor for their first dance, 75 shots were presented to all guests, allowing the opportunity for one giant toast! (We still don’t know what was in it is but looked dark and delicious!).

Shots done; we were now ready for the couple’s first dance. The song chosen was Elton John’s classic ‘Something about the way you look tonight’ which was played over a live sax performance by Gaz. This was a truly special moment that acoustically sounded amazing! Elton’s song was followed by James Browns’ I got you, which got a tremendous reaction from guests’ and in our opinion was the official start to the party!

DJ Andy Kay and Gaz on Sax then continued to play wedding classic after classic including songs chosen by Laura and Justin from their original music brief. Gaz worked the crowd with his interactive performance, filtering through the dancefloor for guests to enjoy and dance to a live sax up close by intimately.

Sadly, at 11:25pm the final song of the night had to be played. Guests formed a wonderful farewell circle to allow the couple to say their final farewells to the song ‘Send me on my way’ (which was fitting to say the least.)

Andy and Gary were absolutely perfect from start to finish. Both our guests and us had the best night with this pair on the tracks and sax. Everyone had so much fun and no one wanted the night to end. Both Andy and Gaz were completely professional and so easy to communicate with. We cannot recommend them highly enough to anyone searching for the best entertainment for their event!

THANK YOU

We would like to take this opportunity to thank Laura and Justin for allowing our top wedding DJs to share their special day together with us. We had an absolute ball working with them and hope we contributed to making special memories on the dancefloor.

Thank you for letting us entertain you!
